PuppyPomsky puppies are the cross between the foxy Siberian Husky and the outgoing Pomeranian, breeds that have been in existence for so many years.

Knowing more about the ancestors of your beloved fur babies will help you understand why they possess their unique traits.

Rocky Ridge Pomskies shares some interesting historical facts about your furry friend.

1. The Pomeranians were named after Pomerania, which we now know as Poland and Germany. The breed, however, did not originate there. Pomerania is where they were downsized to become adorable little lapdogs from a larger stature.

2. Did you know that both the Siberian Husky and the Pomeranian descended from the Spitz group, making them ideal for crossbreeding?

3. The Husky was bred by Siberian hunters call the Chukchi, who used the dogs for transportation and to pull heavy loads. Up to this day, this strong, athletic and intelligent breed continues to look for “work”. Don’t be mad if they are acting up having been left idle for too long.

4. Poms are distinctively cocky and vain. It may be hard to believe, but the Pomeranian was once a hard-working sled dog as well.

5. If you add the size of the Husky and the Pom then divide the sum by two, the Pomsky will be roughly that big, but there is no guarantee.

6. Legendary artist Michelangelo had a Pomeranian who sat on a satin pillow while he painted the Sistine Chapel. Martin Luther King also had a pom named Belferlein whom he mentioned in his writings.

7. In1925, a lethal diphtheria epidemic struck a remote town in Alaska. Two Huskies, named Balto and Togo, saved the whole town by delivering the anti-toxin, braving 674 miles of ice and snow in only six days.
